This new Polaroid of Ed Kemper at the CMF in Vacaville surfaced yesterday on Instagram. According to its owner, it was taken some time between 1995 and 1999. The man standing next to Kemper is unknown. He is probably a visitor.
Thanks to serialkillermurderabilia for sharing this item from their awesome collection!
A unique piece: “The Annotated Dracula” hardcover book, signed, dated and dedicated on the inside first page by Ed Kemper in 1992 and signed, dated and dedicated on the title page (second page) by famed author and poet Leonard Wolf in 1978. This book was Kemper’s personal copy given to him by Wolf. I blurred the names in Kemper’s note to protect their privacy.
This book is part of my collection of true crime collectibles.
Two original Polaroids of Ed Kemper and famed author and poet Leonard Wolf together at visitation in 1978 at the CMF in Vacaville. They were the property of Kemper, who has annotated and dated the bottom of both Polaroids. We can appreciate his sense of humour. Leonard Wolf was a professor at San Francisco State University and a regular visitor of Ed’s in the late 1970s.
These Polaroids are part of my collection of true crime collectibles.
A rare piece: a silver ring with a berry and leaf motif and inset with an emerald cut December birthstone that was owned and worn by Ed Kemper. It’s a size 13.
Not much is known about the jewelry that Kemper wore. Another silver ring similar to this one also exists. Both seem to have been custom-made for Kemper.
This ring is part of my collection of true crime collectibles / COA by Ed Kemper
A rare piece: a fully handwritten letter by Ed Kemper to a male penpal, from 1995. It is rare because Kemper typed most of his letters. It is about two pages long. Here is a transcript of the last two paragraphs of the letter:
Spencer Michaels, a field reporter with McNeil Lehrer, passed me in the hallway recently. He had a crew with him, as well as the Warden’s Ad Asst. It was nice that he remembered me from an interview in the early 80s when he was out on the coast with KPIX channel 4. Oops-That’s KRON I guess. (who watches the local news in prison?)
I don’t do media interviews anymore – they want only to rake over the pain and ashes of 22 years ago. There’s nothing “new” there except anguish and I can do that without the corporate sponsors and audience share actuarials, thank you very much. When a lifer is the subject, who but him is concerned with healing? (if then…)
Gonna get this mailed – take care.
Yours,
Ed
